Mission Trips

“Let the whole of the Church’s activity be in a missionary key.” -Pope Francis

The Catholic Center at URI is proud to partner with FOCUS Missions to provide as many opportunities for as many students as possible to participate in mission trips throughout the world. URI students will join together with students from other campuses across the country for immersive, life-changing experiences throughout the world. While students are responsible to raise their own funds to finance all costs involved with each mission, all URI students will be provided a fundraising coach through FOCUS Missions who will help them meet their goals, and URI students will be eligible to apply for a generous grant from the Catholic Center to help defray the cost of their participation. There is no financial reason not to pursue a mission experience. Please email the chaplain or the FOCUS team director for more information!

2018 Mission Trip Opportunities

  • HONDURAS: Honduras is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere with nearly 21% of the population living on less than one US dollar per day. Many people of this country are starving physically and spiritually. On this mission students will bring hope to the people of Comayagua, Honduras, by working alongside the Missioners of Christ, Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, and the Diocese of Comayagua to catechize and serve remote mountain areas near Comayagua. Missionaries will lead daily programs for youth, young adults, and parents, feeding them spiritually and physically! This trip will run during Spring Break, from March 9-18, 2018.

  • ARGENTINA (MEDICAL MISSION TRIP): Missionaries will travel to the Southern Hemisphere for an immersive mission into the life and culture of the people of San Rafael, Argentina! They will work alongside the Servidoras, who are now on 5 continents bringing Jesus’ light and love into every corner of the world. Missionaries will serve in their Houses of Mercy, bringing dignity and love to the most disabled members of the area. Including manual labor, personal interaction with the people, and a taste of the best Argentina has to offer, this mission is diverse and sure to bring great joy! This trip will run in July, 2018.
