Responsibilities:
Leads bi-weekly Executive Board meetings.
Promote the CC on campus and serve as the principle liaison between campus and the CC.
Meet regularly with the Chaplain/FOCUS.
Energize and encourage students who are already engaged to be more committed to events sponsored by RCO.
Help Chaplain plan leadership retreat/formation days.
Help shape the vision for the CC and define its role on campus.
Help organize Welcome Week activities/events.
Provide consistent support and outreach to members of the Executive Board and promote leadership opportunities at CC.
Spirituality Chair
Are you interested in being formed, forming, and facilitating opportunities for spiritual formation? Are you interested in helping others grow as missionary disciples? Do you like helping others grow in their spiritual lives? Are you interested in helping others learn more about our faith? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then this position might be for you!
Responsibilities:
Participate in bi-weekly Executive Board meetings.
Organize a lead team for Fall and Spring retreats and work with the Chaplain to choose themes, schedules, and organize the retreats.
Brainstorm creative ways to help students grow spiritually and/or learn more about the Catholic faith and provides these opportunities throughout the semester.
Facilitate opportunities for students to grow as leaders of prayer.
Liturgy Chair
Are you interested in helping organize the practical dimensions of our community prayer and worship? Do you possess organizational skills and good communication skills? Do you want to see our liturgical life strengthened and expanded? Have you had experience as a liturgical minister at your home parish or here at URI? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then this position might be for you!
Responsibilities:
Participate in bi-weekly Executive Board meetings.
Prepare schedules for liturgical ministers for the weekly 8pm University Mass at CTK.
Work with the Chaplain to recruit and train new ministers.
Set up and break down after each Sunday Mass and engage other students to assist with this task.
Promote the Sunday University Mass on campus.
Work with the Spirituality/Catechesis Chair to plan and offer spiritual and liturgical opportunities throughout the year.
Service Chair
Do you try to be actively conscious of those in need? Have you participated in service opportunities in the past? Are you aware of different groups of people or agencies that might benefit from charitable giving or service-related activities? Are you passionate about serving Christ in the poor and marginalized? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then this position might be for you!
Responsibilities:
Participate in bi-weekly Executive Board meetings.
Plan occasional service opportunities for RCO.
Continue traditions of service already established at the CC and brainstorm new opportunities.
Connect and collaborate with other groups on campus who are sponsoring or planning service opportunities.
Publicize our service opportunities throughout campus.
Work with Chaplain, FOCUS, and other chairs to incorporate service opportunities in conjunction with other offerings.
Hospitality Chair
Do people consider you friendly and engaging? Are you a person who loves to organize meals, parties, and events? Would you be interested in creating an welcoming atmosphere for new and returning students at the CC? Are you comfortable with details and organizational skills? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then this position might be for you!
Responsibilities:
Participate in bi-weekly Executive Board meetings.
Create an atmosphere of hospitality at the CC and events sponsored by Rhody Catholic.
Ensure everything needed for the preparation, serving, and cleanup of weekly RCE meals including developing a menu, providing a weekly shopping list, engaging other students to assist and to commit to taking turns preparing meals.
Help keep the kitchen clean and organized and engage other students to assist with these tasks.
Is aware of kitchen inventory and communicates needs to the Chaplain.
Social Chair
Do you enjoy planning and hosting social events? Are you a creative person who has planned (or would be willing to plan) social gatherings around particular themes/events? Have you thought about what additional opportunities for socializing and community building we
could be doing? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then this position might be for you!
Responsibilities:
Participate in bi-weekly Executive Board meetings
Communicate regularly with the Hospitality Chair to plan social events and community-building activities
Brainstorm, organize, and execute social events throughout the semester
Assist with advertising social events on campus
Work with the Chaplain, FOCUS Missionaries, and other chairs to find or create opportunities for new students to become involved in the CC through social activities and outreach.
Chapel Ministries Chair
Do you have an interest in enhancing liturgy at the CC chapel? Do you have good organizational and communication skills? Do you want to see our liturgical life strengthened and expanded? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then this position might be for you!
Responsibilities:
Participate in bi-weekly Executive Board meetings.
Arrange for liturgical ministers for the daily Masses and Eucharistic Adoration at the CC.
Work with the Chaplain to recruit and train new ministers.
Set up before/break down after each daily Mass and engage other students to assist with this task.
Promote the CC Mass on campus.
Work with the Spirituality/Catechesis Chair to plan and offer spiritual and liturgical opportunities throughout the year.
